Job Description
The Department of Media and Creative Industries at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position in Strategic Communication. Qualified candidates at all academic ranks will be considered, with appointment at a rank commensurate with academic accomplishments. The ideal candidate should have expertise in mass media, public relations, and strategic communication and be able to enhance students’ learning experiences in these areas. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses, with an emphasis on integrating AI applications in public relations and strategic communication. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be responsible for curriculum development, program coordination, student advising, and other faculty duties. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, student mentorship, and research. The candidate is expected to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program, publish in refereed journals, and actively contribute to the university’s academic and professional growth. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a detailed resume, a brief description of current and future research activities, a teaching philosophy statement, and a list of courses taught. English is the language of instruction and communication. Screening of applications will continue until the position is filled.
Minimum Qualification
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualification
Ph.D. in Strategic Communication, Public Relations, Mass Communication, or a related field from a recognized university. Strong research record with a demonstrated ability to publish in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and secure research funding. Proven teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels in strategic communication, public relations, or related subjects. Expertise in AI applications in public relations and strategic communication, with the ability to integrate emerging technologies into teaching and research. Industry experience or professional engagement in strategic communication, corporate communication, or media-related fields. Experience in curriculum development and program coordination, particularly in media and communication disciplines. Commitment to student advising, mentorship, and academic support at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Ability to collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and external organizations to enhance the program’s academic and professional impact. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, as it is the language of instruction. Demonstrated leadership in academic and professional service, such as organizing conferences, leading research groups, or participating in media associations.
