We are seeking a junior group leader candidate with an impressive track record and a compelling vision for independent research on the role of mechanotransduction in stem cell and tissue homeostasis.

DanStem’s current mission is to achieve a quantitative understanding of cell behavior during development, homeostasis and disease, and we particularly encourage applications from scientists who have quantitative or computational facets to their future plans. Job description

As a group leader, you will initiate a new independent research program within the field of mechanotransduction and stem cell biology, with focus on how mechantransduction interfaces with conventional signal transduction to dictate the choices stem cells make to either renew or differentiate. In particular we are interested in the stem cell populations that support epithelia and how stem cell populations are influenced by the way in which the epithelium experience mechanical force.

DanStem provides a generous support package for the group leader, which includes salary of the group leader, support to other personnel, consumables and modern laboratory and office facilities. The group leader is expected to complement this budget through other national or international grants and/or industrial collaborations. In addition, the group leader is expected to engage in multidisciplinary research collaborations with other DanStem research groups other research groups within the Copenhagen area.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate

Required qualifications

The successful applicant should be able to document:

  • Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways
  • Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
  • Research-based teaching

The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Terms of employment

Employment is for 6 years and scheduled as soon as possible or upon agreement. Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
