The Faculty of Science is one of six faculties operating within the University and contains eight academic schools: Chemistry, Geosciences, Life and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Psychology, History and Philosophy of Science and the Sydney School of Veterinary Science. The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is the largest of the eight schools and is divided into five research and teaching clusters, bringing together researchers in the life, earth and environmental sciences to support and enhance capacity in research and teaching.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding senior academic to the role of Associate Professor or Professor in Innovative Food Quality and Safety. The successful applicant must be a leading authority within their discipline and have an international reputation for excellence. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the leadership and strategic direction within the school, faculty and wider University by providing collegial support and mentorship, as well as teaching and research leadership. It is essential that the successful applicant strives to maintain and grow a culture of collaboration and excellence by guiding academic staff, professional staff and students towards success. In addition to developing food science teaching and research within the school, the incumbent will also assume the role of Director, ARC Training Centre for Food Safety in the Fresh Produce Industry, through to the centre's completion in February 2021, and lead a new funding bid to continue and drive the success in food safety research.

The successful applicant must have a wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders, that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the school, faculty and University.

Term and remuneration
The position is offered on a fixed-term basis for 5 years, subject to completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
