The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital are seeking applications for the Brazilian Ball Chair in Cardiology.
This is a five-year, renewable once, joint University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital endowed chair.
Tentative start date: March 1, 2026, or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must currently hold a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and an active Scientist appointment at St. Michael’s Hospital.
The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized scientist with the ability to lead a world-class research program in cardiology aligned with Unity Health Toronto’s strategic priorities.
Lead research advancing the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Enhance patient outcomes through research and innovation.
Supervise graduate students, fellows, and other trainees.
Contribute to the academic and professional life of St. Michael’s Hospital and the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science / Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute (KRCBS/LKSKI).
Full-time academic appointment at the University of Toronto at Associate or Full Professor level.
Active Scientist appointment at Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital.
International recognition in cardiology research.
Must not concurrently hold a comparable award.
Approximately $120,000 CAD per year to offset salary support if applicable.
Remaining funds may support research operations, academic activities, or education events.
