A bioinformatician position is available in the Waller laboratory to work on a Moore Foundation-funded project pursuing a mechanistic understanding of the process of endosymbiosis.

The project will draw on systems biology data including whole-cell spatial proteomics and gene transcription and translation profiles derived from dinoflagellate algae that represent models of multiple stages of endosymbiont integration. This position will develop and implement methods for integrating and analysing such datasets in this rapidly developing field. The Waller group works closely with Professor Kathryn Lilley's research group and this position will interact with bioinformaticians in her group working on other diverse systems biology projects and tools. The project will be based in the University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry, Central Cambridge.

The successful candidate will have significant postgraduate experience with bioinformatics projects, or a degree in molecular/cellular biology and a strong computational background. Proficiency in computer scripting (e.g. Python, Perl, R) is required. Ability to work both as part of a team, and independently, coupled with excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills are required.

The position is available from Aug 2020 and is funded for 3 years in the first instance.
