Summary Description


Columbia University Arts & Sciences and the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies seek to fill the Kaye Chair in Modern Hebrew and Comparative Literature, to begin as early as July 1, 2020, at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor without tenure, Associate Professor with tenure, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in the broad corpus of Modern Hebrew literature in comparative context and will be able to teach a varied range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including modern Hebrew literature. The appointment will be located within a department of language and literature, such as Germanic, Latin American and Iberian, Slavic, or English and Comparative Literature. We seek a candidate who embodies or has the potential to embody the highest standards of scholarly creativity.

Minimum Degree Required
PhD or equivalent degree by June 1, 2020.


Minimum Qualifications
Candidates will demonstrate expertise in the broad corpus of modern Hebrew literature in comparative context, and have experience teaching a varied range of undergraduate and graduate courses.

We seek a candidate who embodies or has the potential to embody the highest standards of scholarly creativity. Depending on the field of the search and current needs for field and course coverage within the Institute, certain subfield requirements may be preferred.
