The College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin is dedicated to providing exemplary education, training, research, and professional development for Pharm.D. students, graduate students, and postgraduates; to advance discovery, innovation, and patient care. To help advance this mission, we are seeking a distinguished applicant to fill one professional-track (non-tenure), clinical faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate (depending on qualifications) for a full-time psychiatric pharmacist faculty position. This position is located in San Antonio, Texas and will be co-funded (50/50) with San Antonio State Hospital (SASH) and The College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin with a practice site at SASH.

SASH in San Antonio, Texas is a 302-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital with comprehensive psychiatric and rehabilitative services. The current facility is being replaced with a new state-of-the-art psychiatric hospital on the same campus that will open in January 2024.

The successful applicant will facilitate practice laboratories, provide classroom instruction, mentor, and supervise clinical clerkships for students in the Pharm.D. program. Clinical service supporting resident and Pharm.D. student education as well as the operational goals of SASH pharmacy department is expected.  While on-site at SASH, faculty members will be embedded in the de-centralized clinical pharmacy team and meet operational department expectations as appropriate. Faculty members will provide service to the college, hospital, university, and broader professional community. The primary practice focus of this position will be psychiatric pharmacy services at SASH. The faculty member will be expected to supervise pharmacy students and residents to help them learn how to care for patients with psychiatric diagnoses, with predominantly forensic population. The successful individual will have interests in developing interprofessional collaborations to advance pharmacy practice, research, and scholarship. Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • an earned Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy,
  • be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas,
  • have successfully completed a psychiatric pharmacy residency or equivalent experience by the start date (July 1, 2023), and
  • be able to demonstrate effective teaching.
