(Teaching & Scholarship) 0.4 FTE

The Institute of Health Sciences Education are recruiting for the above post to replace an established post.

This is an essential role in the delivery of high-quality education for students. The post holder will be providing face to face teaching, blended learning, reviewing and enhancing teaching material and developing new modules to expand community based medical education in the context of the enhanced role of community based medicine in our curriculum.

This post is based in the Community Based Medical Education unit; an award winning team responsible providing innovative, transformative learning for students in primary care. The Unit has become a national leader in online learning to support GP placements in undergraduate education.

The Unit also contributes to the Masters in Physicians Associates programme as well as other postgraduate courses offered by the School of Medicine and Dentistry in London and the parallel MBBS programme in Malta. The MBBS is expanding rapidly with a particular emphasis of community-oriented education in east London.

The post holder will contribute to the design of new courses and options, and continue development as a scholar. With support they will undertake through evaluation, research presentations and publications activities that enriches the post holder as an educator and the academic environment of both the unit and school. They will need to undertake and perform appropriate administrative duties allocated to an acceptable standard.

This post will include teaching activity, scholarly activity (including ‘third stream’ activities) and supporting activity in the ratio 2:1:1

The post holder will be a primary care clinician and contribute to the intellectual life of the Institute, School and University. They will bring substantial appropriate experience in the context of General Practice and experience in clinical teaching and assessment. Experience of managing medical education & curriculum design would be an advantage. The post holder is expected to maintain their Licence to practise during the time of the appointment.

Salary will be QMUL £49,044 - £60,960 (Clinical Academic scale SP 8-11) per annum pro-rata

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
