Position description

UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, in conjunction with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, is accepting applications for a Health Sciences Professorial appointment at the assistant, associate, or full rank depending upon administrative experience. Adjoined with this academic title is an administrative appointment as Associate Program Director of Residency Training.
Reporting to the Program Director for Psychiatry Residency Training, the associate director role has various responsibilities including the annual recruitment of psychiatry residents. These duties require screening and reviewing applications of prospective resident trainees; identifying selection pools; assemble and assign recruitment committees; conducting interviews of applicants; and planning open house events (including virtual tours), that our program will provide a comprehensive assessment of potential candidates. Related year round duties include monitoring resident wellness and providing support for struggling trainees, developing and implementing the educational mission for the residency-training program, overseeing the educational curriculum, and maintaining program compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards. The candidate will also coordinate various intradepartmental meetings, case conferences, mentorship, career planning, and participant grievances.

This position also involves some teaching responsibilities and presenting lectures.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

• Ph.D., M.D., D.Phil or equivalent medical degree
• California Medical Board licensed
• Board Certified in Psychiatry
