Your responsibilities

The duties that come with this position are primarily to pursue one's dissertation research and support the chair in duties that arise in the context of the research project (e.g., organizing conferences and workshops). Teaching courses is possible but optional

Your profile

We are especially interested in candidates who have a background in philosophy of science with a particular focus on economics. Ideally, the candidate plans to work on a topic closely related to one of the chair's research project 'Concept Formation in Economics'. This project is part of the newly funded interdisciplinary research program «Inequality of Opportunities», which involves the faculties of philosophy and of economics. Candidates are expected to be able to communicate and potentially collaborate with philosophers, economists, and political scientists.

Candidates who have not finished their MA at the time of the application deadline must provide evidence that they will have their MA in hand at the time the position starts.

What we offer

The chair is affiliated with the Sociology department and the Philosophy department of the University of Zurich. Both departments host a vibrant research community of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, doctoral fellows, and master students. The successful candidate will partake in the institute's regular events as well as the chair's academic activities and enjoy its administrative facilities and support. Fluency in German is not mandatory but beneficial.

Employment start date is to be mutually agreed. The latest starting date is March 1, 2021
