The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of Sweden's leading knowledge centers for research and education in social sciences and behavioral science and conducts business in both Lund and Helsingborg. 

The Department of Strategic Communication conducts Sweden's largest educational and research activities within the research field of strategic communication. The department is also one of the largest units in the area in Europe. The business is located at Campus Helsingborg, which is characterized by Lund University's genuineness placed in a young and dynamic environment with interdisciplinary thinking. Characteristic of the activities at Campus Helsingborg is also a strong collaboration with the business sector and public activities in both education and research.

Employment as a doctoral student (at least 1) in media and communication science with specialization in strategic communication. 

The position is placed at the Department of Strategic Communication (ISK), Campus Helsingborg. 

The main task is to devote to one's own doctoral education, which includes both own research and postgraduate courses. In addition to postgraduate education, participation in teaching and other institution work (max. 20%) can also be included. The employment is limited to 4 years (maximum 5 years after extension at 20% institution service). Provisions regarding employment as a doctoral student can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (1998: 80).

Strategic communication deals with studies of organizations' conscious communication efforts to achieve their overall goals. The research will shed light on, create an understanding of and critically examine the communication processes that govern and shape organizations in our society and the effects of strategic communication. Strategic communication is based on internationally established research within public relations, organizational communication and marketing communication. The research at the department is available in a number of different areas within the field of strategic communication, but preferably in the areas of branding, digital media, big data, public diplomacy, crisis communication, organizational communication and the communication professor.

Since the department is fairly new, no separate doctoral education is yet offered. The doctoral student will therefore be admitted to the postgraduate program in media and communication science. For more information about the doctoral program, see the website ( ). When hiring, it is considered that the applicant has undergraduate education related to and experience of strategic communication, media and communication science, rhetoric or equivalent. 

Basic entry requirements for third-cycle education, the one who has completed a degree at the advanced level, has completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at an advanced level, or in some other way within or outside the country have acquired the corresponding equivalent.

In addition to the general eligibility for postgraduate studies, the doctoral student must have at least 30 higher education credits within the main field of media and communication science at the advanced level or acquire equivalent knowledge (for example within strategic communication) within or outside the country. The doctoral student must also have completed independent work of at least 15 higher education credits at the advanced level. 
The applicant must have such knowledge in English that he / she can assimilate research literature, postgraduate courses and participate actively in seminar activities. 

Basis of Assessment
Provisions for employment as a doctoral student can be found in Regulation SFS 1998: 80. As the holder, only one who is admitted to postgraduate education may be appointed. In connection with appointment, the main focus should be on the degree of ability to assimilate the doctoral education. Great emphasis is placed on the applicant's master's thesis (or equivalent thesis) and the presented thesis idea.

1) CV with certified copies of diplomas, academic grades and other relevant certificates 
2) a copy of the master thesis and, if applicable, the applicant's other scientific publications (eg articles in scientific journals) 
3) a personal letter describing the applicant's background, interest in the subject and intention of the doctoral program
4) a dissertation sketch in which the applicant presents an idea for the thesis (maximum five pages) 
5) contact information to two reference persons. 

The assessment will also take into account the ability to work self-sustaining and structured, but also the ability to contribute to good cooperation and a good research environment at the department.
