Multimedia Analytics brings together multimedia analysis, machine learning and information visualization to support users in getting insight in large multimedia collections.
Are you the AI researcher that can give a boost to multimedia analytics by developing innovative data-driven algorithms to enrich multimedia data and to learn from the user interacting with the collection? Are you eager to teach such concepts to bachelor and master students? If the answer to those questions is yes, you should consider this Tenure Track position in the MultiX (multimedia analytics) group of the Informatics Institute.
The MultiX group is a vibrant research group, where fundamental research in multimedia analytics is performed with applications in health, forensics and law enforcement, cultural heritage, urban livability, and social media analysis. The MultiX group is also active in the national Innovation Centre for Artificial Intelligence (ICAI).
We will base our selection on your scientific track record and on your vision for future research and funding, as well as on your teaching achievements, qualifications, and vision for future teaching.
We offer a temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week with a tenure track agreement for the duration of five years (which is part of a six-year temporary contract). You will be offered a permanent position after a positive assessment and evaluation.
The starting salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel, and depending on experience and qualifications. It will range from a minimum of €3,746 gross per month up to a maximum of €5,127 gross per month (salary scale 11) based on full-time employment. This is exclusive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. A favourable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.

About the Faculty of Science and the Informatics Institute
The Faculty of Science has a student body of around 7,000, as well as 1,600 members of staff working in education, research or support services. Researchers and students at the Faculty of Science are fascinated by every aspect of how the world works, be it elementary particles, the birth of the universe or the functioning of the brain, or machines that display intelligent behaviour.
The mission of the Informatics Institute is to perform curiosity-driven and use-inspired fundamental research in Computer Science. The main research themes are Artificial Intelligence, Computational Science and Systems and Network Engineering. Our research involves complex information systems at large, with a focus on collaborative, data driven, computational and intelligent systems, all with a strong interactive component.
