Faculty position in Inorganic Chemistry

The Department of Inorganic Chemistry in the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the
Catholic University in Chile seeks applications for a faculty position. Candidates are expected to
make strong commitments to excellence in research, teaching and mentoring. Creative and
energetic individuals who show extraordinary promise or accomplishment in the research
areas of material sciences, bio-inspired materials and catalysis will be considered. The entry
level of the applicants will be decided by the promotions committee within the School of
Chemistry and Pharmacy following the rules and regulations of the University and it would be
based solely on the academic achievements of the applicants. We invite researchers with a

Description of Research Activities: The selected candidate must create and strengthen
research activities in Inorganic Chemistry with preference in areas of material sciences and bioinorganic chemistry. The ideal candidate must be able to formulate research projects funded by
government agencies in Chile and industry as well as to generate publications in indexed
journals (WoS and SCOPUS). The candidate must also be able to generate networks to
collaborate broadly with scientists throughout the world.

Description of Teaching Activities: The selected candidate must be motivated to teach
undergraduate level courses related to the Inorganic Chemistry Department at the School of
Chemistry and Pharmacy. It is expected that the candidate will formulate and propose new
courses at the undergraduate and graduate level with emphasis in multidisciplinary subjects in
collaboration with other departments at the University. In addition, the candidate must be able
to engage in mentoring activities as well as directing thesis work with undergraduate and
graduate students.

Candidate's Profile: The minimum qualifications required to be considered for the position is
the completion of a Ph.D and have postdoctoral experience by date of hire. The ideal candidate
must have research experience as demonstrated by publications, research projects and
research networks worldwide. The candidate must be proficient in Spanish and English to teach
at the University. The candidate should be proactive leading and collaborating with
interdisciplinary networks.
