Position Summary
The University of North Carolina’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is recruiting a non-tenure track, open rank faculty member within the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, to begin work in July 2021. The Division’s clinical programs include high-risk obstetric care, perinatal consultation, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, genetic services, invasive fetal therapy and perinatal outreach. Division faculty members are active participants in the activities of UNC’s Center for Maternal and Infant Health (www.mombaby.org), which provides multidisciplinary care coordination for families referred for fetal malformations. Division members actively participate in student and resident teaching and provide subspecialty training for six Maternal Fetal Medicine fellows through its ACGME approved fellowship program.
The Department is currently ranked third nationally in NIH funding, with six federally funded investigators within the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division. This academically oriented Division has an outstanding record of epidemiologic research and is one of the participating institutions in the NICHD Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network (MFMU). The Department also has an active Women’s Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Career Development Program. Biomedical and public health graduate programs offer extensive opportunities for collaboration in basic science and translational research.
Opportunities and resources for career development are abundant, whether in clinical leadership/quality and safety, medical education or clinical/translational research. We seek to increase diversity among our group so that a full spectrum of races and ethnicities are available to our students and our patients. In support of our commitment to reproductive justice, we are seeking candidates with a commitment to anti-racism and health equity for birthing people with high-risk pregnancies.
Educational Requirements
Qualified individuals must have earned a MD or DO degree, completed a 4-year ACGME approved OB-GYN residency and completed a 3-year ACGME or ABOG approved fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Qualifications and Experience
Must be Board Certified/Active Candidate in both OB-GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Candidates must possess competence in maternal medicine and prenatal diagnosis, and have a commitment to excellence in medical education. Those with interest and expertise in health equity, community-engaged scholarship, quality and safety, and/or reproductive genetics are especially encouraged to apply. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Equal Opportunity Employer
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or status as a protected veteran.
