The Crown Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a tenure-track or tenured faculty member whose focus is on mental health and wellness among youth ages 12 - 25, with priority for scholars whose work centers the life experiences and assets of African American/Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and/or Asian American young people. This faculty member will be rostered in the Crown Institute, with potential tenure homes in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, the Department of Ethnic Studies, or the School of Education, based on the most qualified candidates in our applicant pool.
We encourage applications from candidates whose research agenda addresses mental health and wellness among youth and whose research demonstrates a commitment to collaborative and asset-based approaches. We are particularly interested in programs of research that will advance access to mental health and wellness for diverse young people, including but not limited to diversity in terms of race and ethnicity, culture, language, social class, (dis)ability, immigration status, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Settings for research could include schools and districts, community organizations, after-school programs, families, and/or neighborhoods and communities. Topics of study could include, but are not limited to, mental health, suicide prevention, healing justice, activism and voice, and culture and identity. We are open to a range of types of methodological expertise, including quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods. We welcome applicants from a range of disciplinary perspectives, including, but not limited to: clinical, developmental, or educational psychology, cultural or community psychology, educational sociology or anthropology, youth development, bilingual education, ethnic studies, and/or indigenous education.
