The Faculty of Science and Technology offers nine undergraduate programmes: Applied Mathematics, Applied Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Technology, Data Science, Environmental Science, Financial Mathematics, Food Science and Technology, and Statistics. Additionally, the Faculty offers three taught master programmes: Master of Arts in Communication-Artificial Intelligence & Digital Media Concentration (AIDM), Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Technology and Management (SETM) and Master of Science in Data Science with Concentration in Business Statistics (MSCBS), along with five research postgraduate programmes in Applied Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science and Technology, and Probability and Mathematical Statistics. Our focus is on comprehensive professional training, while emphasizing the students' holistic development through social awareness and self-cultivation.
The faculty comprises over 100 teaching faculty members, recruited globally with strong foundations in teaching and research. Alongside our teaching support and administrative staff, we offer various after-school study opportunities, including field work, research with teaching staff, and internships in various enterprises. Through these practical experiences, students are equipped to solve complex real-world problems and make informed decisions about their future studies and professional careers.
Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics (Ref: FST250902)
Job Description
The successful candidate is expected to deliver lectures and tutorials in the areas such as real analysis, complex analysis, partial differential equations, functional analysis, graph theory or similar areas depending on the evolving needs of the department. The successful candidates are also expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students in research and contribute to the university in terms of service and administration.
Job Requirement
Candidates should have a PhD degree in mathematics or a closely aligned discipline, ideally with few years of teaching/research experience at a university or equivalent after completion of PhD degree. Successful candidates should be a strong team player with good communication skills and high sense of responsibility. They should be self-motivated and able to motivate others. Fluency in English and strong knowledge/experience in international higher education are required. Successful candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable ability to undertake independent research leading to outcomes with a strong impact, such as publication in high quality, internationally recognized, indexed journals and scholarly presses. Candidates with expertise in psychology and neuroscience including but not limited to the following areas: Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Personality Psychology, Quantitative Psychology, Psychological Methods, Psychological Assessment, Cognitive Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Factors, Consumer Psychology, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychotherapy, or Psychopathology.
Candidates in the areas of Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychotherapy, or Psychopathology will also be considered at Assistant Professor level.
Job Requirements
Candidates should have a PhD degree in the areas above. Successful candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in English. Candidates with demonstrable ability to undertake independent research leading to outcomes with a strong impact, such as publications in peer-refereed SCI/SSCI journals and scholarly presses will be considered as competitive candidates. Neuroscience-related research experience (e.g., fNIRS, EEG/MEG/iEEG, and/or fMRI) constitutes an advantage rather than a necessity. Benefit and Appointment Terms
Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract with mutual agreement. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
