As part of the "Integrative Taxonomy" initiative of the state of Baden-W├╝rttemberg, a competence center for biodiversity and integrative taxonomy is being established at the University of Hohenheim in cooperation with the Stuttgart State Museum of Natural History.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences invites applications for the position of a

Full Professor (W3) of Integrative Taxonomy of Insects

at the Institute of Biology for the first time to be filled as soon as possible.

The applicant is expected to conduct internationally visible fundamental research and teaching in the field of integrative taxonomy of insects using morphological, molecular, and ecological approaches. The successful candidate will have conducted exceptional work, especially in the areas of taxonomy and species-based biodiversity research and have successfully procured external funding. The courses taught are to be explicitly designed to include in-depth knowledge of species and methods of classical and molecular biodiversity research. For this purpose, taxonomic expertise must be demonstrated in at least one insect group. The professorship is to form the core of the "Competence Center Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy" at the University of Hohenheim and the Stuttgart State Museum of Natural History (SMNS) and cooperate with working groups within the University and the SMNS. The successful candidate should be able to teach both in German and in English.

Prerequisites for applicants are habilitation or an equivalent research and teaching record which may have been established during a Junior or Assistant Professorship.

The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as full professor for the first time, the University of Hohenheim reserves its right to probationary employment. With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities.
