The Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute at JHACH seeks a creative and collaborative scientist in RNA biology, RNA therapeutics, genomics, and bioinformatics. The successful candidate will lead an independent research program, mentor trainees, collaborate across departments, and contribute to the translational research environment.
Establish and lead an independent research program in RNA biology, RNA-based therapeutics, and bioinformatics.
Collaborate with faculty in cancer biology, hematology/oncology, epigenetics/epi-transcriptomics, imaging, and related fields.
Mentor postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduates.
Participate in departmental and institutional service, including seminars, committees, and outreach.
Pursue external funding (NIH, NSF, foundations) and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Contribute to an inclusive, collegial research environment.
Appointment at Instructor or Assistant Professor, depending on experience and accomplishments.
Promotion/tenure track status follows standard JHUSOM policies.
Required:
Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biostatistics, or related field.
Expertise in RNA biology, gene regulation, and genomics, with demonstrated research productivity.
Experience with scripting (Python, R), large-scale data analysis, and high-performance or cloud computing.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred:
Track record or strong potential for external funding (e.g., NIH/NSF).
Experience with single-cell genomics, epigenomics, RNA-seq, long-non-coding RNAs, circular RNAs, RNA therapeutics.
Collaborations in biomedical engineering, systems biology, or translational therapeutics.
Mentorship experience or leading collaborative research projects.
