Job description

As a junior teacher you will participate in the education that Athena provides within the exact sciences, health and life sciences. In addition to various courses in Bachelor's programs, we coordinate the 1-year Master's specializations 'Science Communication', 'Science in Society' and 'International Public Health' and we provide the 2-year Master's program 'Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship in the health and Life Sciences', and the research master 'Global Health'. In many of our courses, we introduce the student to the practical implications of scientific thinking on the interaction between science and society. Your task will mainly lie in supervising working groups and possibly providing practical support to the course coordinator.


  • You have an MSc, preferably in Management Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship in the Health and Life Sciences, Global Health, Major Science in Society/Science Communication or International Public Health, achieved excellent results during your study (GPA >7.5), especially in internships and graduation research (graduation date not after 31-08-2022).
  • You preferably have experience in qualitative and participatory research methods.
  • You write and speak fluently English and Dutch.
  • You are a flexible team player and you are open to transdisciplinary research, and you are able to support education, both in the practical organization and the substantive supervision of work groups and assignments.

The ideal candidate has a broad interest in complex problems related to care, welfare and sustainability, and finds it inspiring to reflect on this academically.

What are we offering?

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €2,960 (scale 10) and a maximum €4,670 (scale 10), depending on your education and experience. The job profile is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 0.6 FTE.

The initial employment contract will affect a period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension on the condition of a satisfactory preformance. The start date of the position is Monday, August 22, due to training and preparations. The maximum duration of the appointment is a period of 3 years.
