Purdue Global’s School of Multidisciplinary and Professional Studies has an opening for Adjunct Faculty members in the Science department.
Adjunct faculty have part-time teaching roles and can teach up to 3 courses per term, not exceeding 10 courses per year. This role participates in continuing professional development and may engage in faculty governance and curriculum work as needed. Scholarship is not required. Teaching assignments may fluctuate and are contingent upon course schedules.
Adjunct faculty deliver high-quality instruction and foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment conducive to student success.
Provide a student-centered learning environment enabling student success
Teach synchronous or asynchronous seminars (10-week units) as assigned
Maintain school-determined virtual office hours for each class
Ensure timely management and response to electronic correspondence from students and administrators
Lead message board discussions and engage students in relevant coursework
Partner with Academic Advisors to address student concerns; refer ADA-related accommodations to Student Accessibility Services (SAS) and comply with communicated accommodations
Maintain and submit accurate and timely student grade/progress reports
Deliver mid-term and final grades in accordance with the academic calendar
Enforce student conduct policies outlined in the University Catalog
Attend university, departmental, and faculty meetings as requested
Remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in technology applicable to the program
Perform additional duties as assigned by the School
Master’s degree or PhD in Anatomy, Physiology, Nutrition, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Environmental Science, and/or Biological Sciences
1–3 years related practical/professional experience and/or training; online or higher education teaching experience preferred
Exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and Zoom; experience with Brightspace LMS preferred
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Dedication to student success and ability to engage and inspire students
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Capable of building strong working relationships across teams, departments, and Schools
Adjunct compensation varies per course based on student enrollment and program type
Typical adjunct in the School of General Education can expect $2,800 per full 10-week course
Retirement benefits include a 403(b) automatic contribution of 3% and company match up to 4% with optional participation in a 457(b) plan
Remote position, can be worked anywhere in the U.S.
