The Department of Science at the University of Alberta’s Augustana Campus invites applications for a term instructor position in Biology. This position involves responsibility for teaching a lecture section in the Winter term (enrollment ~50 students). The course is listed as AUBIO 230 Molecular Cell Biology, and serves as an introduction to the composition, structure and function of cell membranes including membrane transport, cell signalling and cell-cell interactions. This course is a required course in the Integrative Biology major.


For the 2025 Winter semester, the lectures will take place in person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, and they will cover an 11-week term (January 27th to April 15th, 2025). A final examination will be conducted during the final examination period (April 22-28, 2025). Duties include:

  • Preparation of a course syllabus
  • Preparation of lectures and lecture materials for dissemination to students
  • Design, administration and grading of assignments and exams
  • Submission of final grades

This position is in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) Agreement of the University of Alberta.


The successful candidate will be expected to hold a minimum of a Master's degree in Cell Biology or a related field. Recent university teaching at the undergraduate level will be a definite asset.
