Position Description

The Parrhesia Program for Public Thought & Discourse invites applications for part-time Lecturers to teach in its Minor in Science Communication & Public Discourse.

The selected candidate(s) will have part-time teaching opportunities within the Minor and will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and teaching seminar-style undergraduate courses

  • Holding regularly scheduled office hours

  • Preparing, grading, and providing written feedback on student assignments

Depending on curricular needs, successful candidates may teach between one and four courses per academic year.

Compensation and Employment Terms

  • The terms and conditions of employment are governed by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

  • Per-course salary (AY 2025–26): At least $8,883

  • This position is not eligible for benefits.

  • Employment is contingent upon budgetary approval.


Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in a humanistic or social sciences discipline

  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience at a university or four-year college
