About the Role

The Department of Drama in the School of English and Drama in Queen Mary’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks to appoint a 0.7 FTE Lecturer in Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies to a fixed-term post. We expect the colleague appointed to be able to contribute to undergraduate teaching in Drama on an online capacity through a variety of modes (e.g. in seminar-based and practice-based contexts). Applications from outstanding candidates working in any area of theatre and performance studies are invited; the School is particularly interested in applicants with specialism in theatre and race; verbatim theatre; voice; and/or gender in performance.

About You

The successful candidate should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Drama, Theatre or Performance Studies and will hold an appropriate track-record of high-quality teaching. Experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in large or small group settings is an essential requirement.

The Department of Drama is one of the country's leading centres for the study of theatre and performance, with an international reputation for high-quality research and excellence in teaching. This post is available as a result of the secondment of an academic staff member on a research fellowship to a non-UK HEI. It is expected that the role will run for a period of 7 months.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London and will be conducted mainly in an online capacity. It is a part-time (0.7 FTE, equivalent to 24.5 hours per week), fixed-term appointment for 7 months (as a result of absence cover), with an expected start date of 1 September 2020. The starting salary will be Grade 5, £42,333 - £44,807 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
