Lecturer in Economics

University of Queensland

School of Economics

UQ’s School of Economics is a leading provider of economics education in Australia, and ranks in the top 50 among Economics departments worldwide for its research.

Located on the St Lucia campus as part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, the School is home to more than 1800 domestic and international students, 17 professional staff and 70 active teaching and research staff. Its accomplished scholars claim a large share of Australia’s economics honours, national teaching awards, competitive research grants, fellowships, publications and media coverage. The School also has an established research centre and an active seminar and visitor program, providing exposure to researchers from around the world.

About This Opportunity

The School of Economics is seeking to appoint three (3) teaching and research focused Lecturers.  As a Lecturer within the School of Economics you will

  • Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision and further development of the School’s programs,
  • Undertake research of high quality in any field of Economics and Econometrics, and
  • Perform service and engagement activities associated with the School.

These positions are located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer position is equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor position in the US.
