About the Role

The School of Education at UCC is seeking a Lecturer (Below the Bar) to contribute to:

  • Teaching, assessment, and school placement supervision in undergraduate and postgraduate Initial Teacher Education programs.

  • Programme development and administration in the areas of Literacy, Numeracy, and Inclusion.

  • Research and scholarly activities with a social justice orientation in the field of education.

  • Pastoral support for education students, particularly focusing on diversifying the teaching workforce.

  • Engagement with community links and contributions to UCC academic life.

This role combines teaching, research, pastoral care, and administrative responsibilities within a dynamic and research-active School of Education.


Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Doctorate (PhD) in History, Sociology, Psychology, or Philosophy of Education.

  • Knowledge of the Irish education sector.

  • Experience in providing pastoral support to students.

  • Evidence of research expertise in the discipline of education.

  • Ability to contribute to teaching, school placements, and postgraduate supervision.

Additional desirable qualities:

  • Experience in social justice-oriented education.

  • Contribution to program development and community engagement.
