The Department of English at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for part-time lecturer positions to teach fields of British and American literature in the English 102 series. Courses may include 1) Topics in 20th Century Literature, 2) Topics in 18th and 19th Century English Literature, and 3) Topics in Medieval and/or Early Modern Literature, during the fall, winter and spring quarters of 2023-2024 academic year. The full-time teaching load in the School of Humanities is eight courses per year; the annual full-time salary is $64,329.00.
This term appointment falls under the purview of the agreement between the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and the collective bargaining agreement available here:

If selected , first-time English Department Lecturer appointees will receive a one-year appointment. If selected, applicants with an initial one-year English Department Lecturer appointment, during the 2022-2023 academic year, will receive a two-year appointment. Please note that English Department Lecturers with a 2022-2023 appointment at UC Irvine will be considered prior to all other applicants.
Requirement - Applicants must have the Ph.D in English in hand by September 19, 2023, to be eligible for employment. Three years of university-level teaching experience in English is preferred.
