About the Role 

The Department of Film within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is looking to appoint a Lecturer who specialises in film-philosophy and/or ethics and film. The post is full-time and fixed-term to cover maternity absence.

About You 

Duties will include teaching and convening undergraduate modules in the Department of Film, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, supervising undergraduate and MA dissertations, and taking an active role in the Department, including in the Centre for Film & Ethics. You will also be expected to contribute to the life of the School in a more general way, for instance by undertaking appropriate administrative and pastoral duties within the Department of Film. 

You will be expected to offer a second year (L5) option of your own choosing, and to teach on the following modules: L5: What is Cinema? Critical Approaches; L6 Film and Ethics (or similar); MA in Film core modules; undergraduate research dissertation in Film; MA research dissertation in Film.

You will hold a PhD in Film or in Film and Philosophy or in a closely related area or have a relevant professional qualification or equivalent professional experience, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, and good organisational and communication skills are also essential. The successful applicant would ideally have experience in a variety of educational environments including online/distance learning.

The post is full-time, fixed-term with an expected start date of 01 August 2021 to 31 July 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 5, £42,433 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
