Lund University has broad, multifaceted and high-quality activities that cover the entire food and packaging industry, from raw materials to consumers. At the Department of Food Technology, research and education are conducted on the basis of a technical and scientific basis, to meet issues of relevance to the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry and other related industries, as well as system aspects of food production and consumption in society. Research and education are conducted within the main aspects of products, processes and people. Within the department there is also the Food Technology Higher Education program which is a theoretical 2-year further education for people in the food industry. The purpose of the education is to meet the industry's needs for people who assess, ensures and leads safe food production and food processing based on scientific basis. The purpose is also to contribute with food technical expertise in the small and large-scale food industry, grocery stores, large-scale household / restaurant and authorities. 


Special Subject Description

The Department of Food Technology is now looking for a university lecturer in Food Technology, with the main task being to teach within the field of Food Engineering, but also within the other courses of the department. A broad knowledge of the food industry from a technical perspective, including industry, the public sector and authorities, is of great importance for the service. The key is to be able to conduct teaching with a broad, food-technical perspective that can be applied practically. In addition, good knowledge is sought in the quality assessment of food handling, both microbiological and chemical aspects, as well as good knowledge in raw material knowledge, basic microbiology and product development. Good industrial contacts and knowledge of the industry are important.

Duties

The tasks also include:

  • Undergraduate and undergraduate education.
  • Supervision of thesis workers.
  • Collaboration with business and society.
  • Administration linked to the tasks above.


Competence

For eligibility as a university lecturer:

  • Completed degree at advanced level or in other ways obtained corresponding knowledge and has other skills that are of importance with regard to the subject's subject orientation and the tasks that are included in the employment.
  • Shown pedagogical skill.
  • Five weeks of higher education education or otherwise obtained corresponding knowledge, if there are no special reasons.

Other requirements:

  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, in speech and writing.
  • Very good knowledge of English, in speech and writing.
  • Very good knowledge of food process technology.


Assessment Criteria

When hiring a university lecturer, the following shall form the basis for assessment:

  • Good subject knowledge of relevance to the content of the employment and the tasks that are included.
  • Good pedagogical ability, which means good ability to conduct and develop teaching and other pedagogical activities at different levels and with varying teaching methods.
  • Very good professional experience or other experience relevant to the employment.

Other qualifications:

  • Very good knowledge of the food industry from a technical perspective.
  • Good knowledge in chemical and microbiological quality assessment of food handling, raw material knowledge, basic microbiology and product development.

Consideration will also be given to good co-operation ability, drive and independence, and how the applicant, through his / her experience and competence, is deemed to supplement and strengthen the institution and contribute to its future development.
