Summary Description
The Tibetan Language Program of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University invites applications for a Lecturer in Literary/Classical Tibetan Language. This is a full-time, one-year position with possible renewal up to 3 years contingent on satisfactory performance.

Minimum Degree Required
M.A. or its professional equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the position must possess at least an M.A. or its professional equivalent, native or near-native fluency in spoken and written Tibetan and an excellent command of English.

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Tibetan language/pedagogy.

Candidates should also have at least four years’ experience in teaching all levels of literary/classical Tibetan to native speakers of English at the university level.

Please upload the following required materials: cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, samples of teaching materials (to be submitted as “Other Document 1” —this must include a link to a teaching demonstration video of the teacher engaged in classroom instruction), samples of student teaching evaluations, and three letters of reference. Please use a third party site such as YouTube or Dropbox to host your teaching demonstration video and include the link within the sample teaching materials submitted as “Other Document 1.” RAPS will not allow the direct upload of video files.

The application to this position requires a minimum of three reference letters. The applicant may enable RAPS to generate an automatic email to the reference provider, politely requesting a letter of reference and offering a secure link to the RAPS website where a letter can be uploaded quickly and easily.

After completing the “Provider References” screens, the applicant will come to the “Attached Documents” screen and be asked to upload into RAPS the required application materials listed above. (RAPS will accommodate uploads of maximum two (2) megabytes in size per document.)
