The department of Marketing at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) (University of Amsterdam) invites applications for a Lecturer (non-tenure track) position in Marketing. We are looking for candidates with the ambition to work and succeed at the highest international academic level. The position has a strong focus on education (rather than academic research/publications).

What are you going to do?

The lecturer position offers ample opportunity for personal and professional development in a stimulating international and collegial work environment.

Main tasks of a lecturer would consist of:

  • lecturing;
  • working group/seminar supervision;
  • BSc and MSc thesis supervision;
  • potentially course development and coordination.

The Marketing section offers courses in the curricula of the BSc and MSc Business Administration, MBA and executive education programs.

What do we require?

A PhD degree in Marketing (or in a related field) or a PhD degree near completion. Additionally, relevant teaching experience at the Bachelor and/or Master levels.

A teaching certificate (BKO, postgraduate certificate of higher education, or equivalent) is of benefit. Applicants who do not have such a certificate yet, will be expected to attain it within their first year of employment (facilitated by the University of Amsterdam).

All teaching in the department is in English, which is also the language of communication within the Marketing section. English is also an official language in administrative affairs at the University of Amsterdam.

Outstanding candidates from all major marketing areas are welcome. We are looking for individuals with potential for exceptional teaching performance and a broad interest in marketing.

Our offer

The lecturer in Marketing will initially be offered a contract for one year, after which a three year extension is possible, dependent on organizational developments. Starting date will be 1 September 2021 or such other date as may be mutually agreed.

Salary will be in accordance with Dutch academic salary scales. For a lecturer the gross monthly salary will be, depending on experience, between €2,790 and €5,127. This is salary scale 10 or 11, dependent on experience and track record of the candidate (+16.3% holiday and end-year payments). A temporary reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch candidates. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. The UvA offers a very attractive pension scheme.

In addition to managing their research portfolios, all members of the department are passionately involved in teaching. The section plays a substantial educational role in the BSc and MSc curricula of the Business Administration programs at the Amsterdam Business School, as well as in executive education.
