Lecturer in Mathematics

• Based in Hobart
• Support the Mathematics Discipline’s internationally recognised research in applied mathematics or statistics and decision science.

The Discipline of Mathematics lies within the School of Natural Sciences, offering a range of courses and research supervision in mathematics and statistics. Present research interests include phylogenetics, fluid mechanics, operations research, applied statistics and theoretical ecology.

The Opportunity

Join a team of nine academics contributing to the dynamic and intellectually active environment within the School of Natural Sciences. As Lecturer in Mathematics, you will be expected to pursue research either in one of our main areas of interest or in a field that complements existing strengths.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain links within the University, the discipline, profession, industry and wider community.
• Conduct high-quality research of national standing, secure funding and publish research findings.
• Effectively contribute to the achievement of University strategic objectives.
• Contribute to the supervision of research higher degree students.
• Undertake excellent scholarly coursework teaching.

Selection Criteria:

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

• A continuing record of research of national recognition which contributes to applied mathematics and/or statistics and decision science.
• A record of building and maintaining productive links within the discipline and the wider community.
• Experience in University-level teaching and learning.
• A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role at Academic Level B will have a total remuneration package of up to $133,842 comprising base salary within the range of $98,537 to $114,395 plus 17% superannuation.

Appointment to this role at Academic Level C will have a total remuneration package of up to $158,046 comprising base salary within the range of $118,946 to $135,082 plus 17% superannuation.
