Salary
Pay Range: $1,483.20 – $1,751.00 per credit hour

Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description
The Department of Film and Media Arts within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach FIL 532 M001 – VFX & AI for Film, a three-credit-hour course during the Fall 2026 semester.
This course explores the convergence of Visual Effects (VFX) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), covering both creative and technical practices.
Students will learn:
- VFX production workflows.
- AI's impact on automation in filmmaking.
- AI-driven creative tools and techniques.
- Critical analysis through projects and laboratory-based learning.

Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- MFA in Film, Film Production, Film and Media Arts, Motion Pictures, or a related discipline.
Applicants with an advanced degree or equivalent professional experience are equally encouraged to apply.

- Demonstrated experience in film VFX work and AI.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity.
Job-Specific Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Professional or academic experience in visual effects production, including hands-on proficiency with compositing workflows.
- Working knowledge of AI-driven media tools, including generative image and video platforms such as:Familiarity with industry-standard VFX references and methodologies.
- Midjourney.
- Stable Diffusion.
- Runway ML.
- Comparable AI tools.
- Experience integrating AI tools into creative production pipelines while teaching both technical and ethical aspects of AI.
- Ability to teach or mentor students in a studio or laboratory-based environment using hands-on projects.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will prepare and teach one class per week.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Developing and/or updating the course syllabus.
- Preparing lectures, projects, and student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Delivering instruction based on course competencies and learning outcomes.
- Meeting all scheduled class sessions.
- If unable to teach due to illness or emergency:Submitting mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Making every effort to reschedule the class or arrange a substitute.
- Notifying the department chair of the absence and coverage plan.
- Grading assignments and examinations in a timely manner.
- Providing department-approved student evaluation forms.
- Building positive relationships with students and fellow faculty members.
