Position Overview
The Department of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking a Physiatrist–Clinician Teacher for the Department of Post-Acute Care & Rehabilitation at University Health Network’s Rehabilitation Program.
The successful candidate(s) will be academic clinicians who demonstrate excellence in both teaching and clinical practice.
Applicants should be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of:
- Lecturer
- Assistant Professor
- Associate Professor
- Full Professor
The appointment will be within the Clinician Teacher stream.
Clinical Responsibilities
The Department of Post-Acute Care & Rehabilitation at UHN is seeking experienced clinicians in:
- Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Rehabilitation
- Slow Stream General Rehabilitation
The successful candidate(s) will:
- Share responsibility for inpatient consultations.
- Share responsibility for outpatient consultations.
- Work within UHN-Rehab’s University Centre ABI Rehabilitation Service.
- Work within Bickle Centre’s Slow Stream Rehabilitation Service.
- Provide physiatric consultations and follow-up care to outpatients with acquired brain injuries.
Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate(s) should demonstrate an established record of teaching excellence across:
- Undergraduate medical education
- Postgraduate medical education
The appointment is intended for clinicians who contribute significantly to academic teaching and learner development.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Hold an MD degree or equivalent.
- Be eligible for licensure through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
For Candidates Trained in Canada
Applicants must:
- Hold Fellowship certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FRCPC), or
- Be eligible for Fellowship certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
For Candidates Trained in the United States
Applicants must:
- Hold certification or be eligible for certification by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; and/or
- Hold certification or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Academic Teaching Qualification
Applicants must have one of the following:
- Completion of the University of Toronto Master Teacher Program;
- A master's degree in an education-related discipline; or
- A demonstrated record of teaching excellence sufficient for eligibility for a full-time academic appointment in the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Preferred Qualifications
The following are considered assets:
- Fellowship training in Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation.
- Additional expertise in rehabilitation medicine.
- Advanced experience in medical education.
Salary
Compensation: Exceeds CAD $200,000 annually.
