Lecturer in Modern Irish History

The Faculty of History is seeking to appoint a temporary University Lecturer in Modern Irish History, with particular reference to the period since 1880. This post is a fixed-term appointment for three years from 1 September 2021.

The successful candidate will have a track record in producing research of outstanding quality, and experience or interest in public engagement. They will be required to demonstrate their ability to teach, supervise and examine students at all levels and show a commitment to supporting them academically in the Faculty. The postholder should be willing to engage in the life of the Faculty and University more generally. They will become a regular participant in relevant Faculty research seminars and will be expected to take their share of Faculty administration. They will have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. It is expected that by the start of the appointment the appointee will hold or be close to completing a doctorate in a relevant field.
