The Rausser College of Natural Resources (RCNR) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach NAT RES 24, Freshman Seminar, should an opening arise. NAT RES 24 is Rausser College's designated course for the Berkeley Seminar Program. The Berkeley Seminar Program has been designed to provide new students with the opportunity to explore an intellectual topic with an instructor in a small-seminar setting. Berkeley Seminars are offered in all campus departments, and topics vary from department to department and semester to semester. Potential course topics may include natural resource management; environmental economics; climate change and energy; strategic planning and project management; innovation, product development, and marketing; law, politics and policymaking; community-driven development; public health; research methods; and professional development with the fields of natural resources.
At RCNR, we study natural and human systems from biological, ecological, economic, and social science perspectives. With more than 120 faculty and approximately 1,800 undergraduate and 500 graduate students, we engage the issues that shape the complex, interconnected world of the 21st century, from sustainable systems to obesity, from water policy to energy policy, and from the far-reaching impacts of climate change to the linkages between the human genome, diet, and disease. The College is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching.
Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of RCNR.
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), and maintaining a course website.
Please note: The use of a lecturer pool does not guarantee that an open position exists. See the review date specified in AP Recruit to learn whether RCNR is currently reviewing applications for a specific position. If there is no future review date specified, your application may not be considered at this time. Those interested in remaining in the pool after the final date will need to reapply.
