The Department of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, in partnership with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, invites applications for a full-time academic Neuromuscular Medicine Specialist.
The successful candidate will be eligible for a full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, with an academic position description of Clinician Teacher (CT).
Expected start date: July 1, 2026, or thereafter.
Applicants must:
Hold an MD and have, or be eligible for, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Neurology.
Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
Have completed 1–2 years of neuromuscular fellowship training.
Demonstrate strong clinical skills in ambulatory EMG and neuromuscular medicine.
Have interest in myasthenia gravis (welcomed but not required).
Be willing to provide care across the full spectrum of neuromuscular disease.
Participate in general neurology call and ward duties, proportional to colleagues.
Show excellence and commitment to clinical education required for the Clinician Teacher (CT) track (see Table 2 at: https://deptmedicine.utoronto.ca/clinical-faculty-academic-appointments#Clinicalfacultyapptcategories).
Provide clinical care in neuromuscular and EMG ambulatory settings.
Participate in inpatient and call duties as part of the General Neurology Group.
Contribute actively to education programs at SMH–UHT and the University of Toronto.
Potentially serve as Residency Site Director for a 2–4-year term.
Engage with a team of 24 academic neurologists renowned for clinical research, education, and quality improvement.
Report to the Head, Division of Neurology, St. Michael’s Hospital.
Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with rank, qualifications, and experience.
