University of California, Davis Department of Theatre and Dance

The Department of Theatre and Dance is searching for two lecturers in performing arts for the Winter Quarter of 2021, for two different courses. Please specify in your application which course you are applying for.

Position 1:
Laboratory/discussion—6 hours. Prerequisite: course 40B; consent of instructor. Professionally oriented performance training. Rigorous, consistent training regimen based on traditional modern dance technique. Breath and voice, skeletal and muscular placement, moving from the spine, contraction technique, movement intention.

Position 2:
DRA 055: Contemporary Local, National and Global Theatre, Dance and Performance (4) Lecture/discussion—4 hours. Introduction to a range of contemporary theatre, dance and performance in local, national and international settings. Training in critical approaches to and aesthetic appreciation of these forms. Emphasis varies based on instructor.

M.F.A. or PhD preferred, and/or equivalent significant relevant professional dance/theatre/performance experience and strong teaching background showing commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. Demonstrated commitment to diversity in teaching and making performance.

Substantial background in relevant teaching, scholarship, technique and performance.

Commensurate with experience.
