Duties and responsibilities
  • Teaching at all levels of higher education, using modern teaching methods and educational technology.
  • Creating study and teaching aids as well as being engaged in other curriculum development work, including supervising students at all levels of higher education, participating in the work of theses defence committees.
  • Professional development, including to enhance teaching and supervising skills.
  • Lecturers are required to engage in research work related to their field. In 5 years, a lecturer shall carry out research in the volume equivalent to at least 2/3 of a PhD thesis.
  • The lecturer participates in the research and development activities of the Department of Slavic Studies in cooperation with the visiting professor and associate professor, actively participates in the organization of conferences on Russian linguistics and Slavic studies, takes part in compiling and editing scientific linguistic publications.
  • Lecturer is responsible for the organisation of Russian language Olympiad for schoolchildren and popularising his/her specialisation. 
Required qualifications
PhD or an equivalent qualification
Required experience
  • Teaching experience in higher education institution at all levels of higher education.
  • Prior experience in teaching Russian grammar and syntax; readiness to teach special courses in linguistics is expected
  • Experience in supervising BA and MA students and ability to master e-learing methodology is expected.
  • Participation in conferences; research, publishing and administrative activities.
  • International-level research in the specialisation, the volume of which is equivalent to at least one doctoral thesis.
Required language skills
Excellent command of Russian, very good command of English. According to the Language Act, academic staff with foreign citizenship working in Estonia must have acquired at least B1-level Estonian language skills after five years of work. The Centre for Professional Development offers foreigners and their family members the opportunity to participate in Estonian language courses
