Studio Teacher, Guitar & Lute
Description:
Seeking a motivated instructor in guitar (modern guitar, 19th-century guitar, baroque guitar) and lute (Renaissance lute, baroque lute, archlute, theorbo) performance to begin spring quarter 2021. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of private instruction in guitar and lute, at the college level, and a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music.
Preferred qualifications include a Masters degree in music, a visible and significant record of activity as a professional performer (solo, chamber, orchestral), recording artist (on well-established internationally distributed label(s)), and teacher (private and masterclass). In addition to the instruments mentioned above, proficiency on one or more of the following instruments is also desirable: mandolin, flamenco guitar, ukulele, and five-string banjo. Preferred candidates should be plucked-string multi-instrumentalists who are proficient with repertoire from the 16th through the 21st centuries.
Duties of the instructor include teaching weekly, individual 50-minute lessons for guitar and lute undergraduate and graduate students, attending annual auditions in the department, recruitment efforts within the department, and completing mandatory online training. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreements.
