Symphony Orchestra Conductor
Description:
Seeking a symphony orchestra conductor to teach the UCI Symphony course in spring quarter 2021. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Music as well as a minimum of 5 years of experience conducting professional and/or collegiate orchestras. Additionally, the successful candidate should demonstrate experience in opera and an ability to teach the essential elements of orchestral practices as they relate to opera and ballet performances.
Due to COVID restrictions, all classes will be conducted online.
Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree in music and a significant and visible record of activity conducting professional and/or collegiate orchestras.
Duties of the instructor include teaching two three-hour lecture/rehearsal sessions each week and preparing students for concerts or exams related to the subjects discussed during the quarter, as well as assisting with the preparation of music for UCI Opera's spring production of The Mask in the Mirror. Duties also include completing mandatory online training required of all UC employees.
Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreements.
