Position description

The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at the University of California, Davis, anticipates openings for part-time Lecturers to teach courses during the 2022-23 academic year contingent upon the instructional needs of the department. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in geology or a related field and have prior teaching experience at the college/ university level. These positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Service dates are:
Fall Quarter 2022 ......Service period: September 19 - December 9, 2021
Winter Quarter 2023....Service period: January 6 - March 24, 2022
Spring Quarter 2023....Service period: March 6 - June 15, 2022

Qualifications:
• Minimum professional degree requirement is a Ph.D. in geology or related field.
• Evidence of teaching excellence or potential for excellence.
• A developing record of scholarly or professional achievement.

Lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions which require their professional as well as their academic expertise to meet the teaching needs occasioned by sabbatical leaves and/or leaves of absence of regular faculty or general instructional needs of the unit. Therefore, in any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary. Lecturer appointments are subject to final approval from the Dean of the College of Letters & Science and/or budget availability.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Must possess a Ph.D. in geology or related field at the time of application and have prior experience teaching (preferably at the college/university level).
