UCC wishes to appoint an academic to a new Lectureship in Biochemistry and Cell Biology to support the new Higher Diploma programme in Design and Manufacture of BioPharmaceuticals that is funded by the Government’s Human Capital Initiative (HCI) for re-skilling graduates for careers in the BioPharmaceutical Industry. This programme is jointly delivered by the Schools of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Pharmacy and Engineering with an annual intake of 30-35 students.

The School of Biochemistry is a central and highly active School in the Life Sciences at UCC with a strong research ethos, and an excellent track record of research and innovation, including strong educational interactions with the biotechnology and BioPharma industries through BSc, MSc and PhD training.

The appointed candidate will have demonstrated potential for teaching and training. They will also be expected to develop a research programme in an area of biochemistry, cell biology and bioprocessing that are in line with the Schools research areas, the HCI initiative, and the future needs of industry.

Appointment may be made on the Lectureship Salary Scale: €34,748 - €61,370 (Scale B) / €36,658 - €58,397 (Scale A)
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
