Your assignment

  • You prepare a doctoral dissertation in the field of health sciences. More specifically, you conduct research into the determinants of the anti-depressive effect of non-pharmacological treatments in depressed patients, where research is carried out into wearable data and speech as digital biomarkers for depressive response and relapse.
  • You publish scientific articles related to the research project.
  • You guide students in their master's degree with their thesis or internship
  • Academic services We offer a dynamic and stimulating research environment with a solid coaching team, consisting of experts from different knowledge domains. The research consists of the use of non-pharmacological interventions in depression (electroconvulsive therapy and cognitive training), and the investigation of digital biomarkers for depression, relapse and stress.

Job Profile

  • The candidate must be in possession of a master's degree in Psychological Sciences, Medicine, Engineering or a related discipline upon appointment. Excellent degrees are recommended during Bachelor and Master courses.
  • We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in neuroscience and experimental psychopathological research.
  • The candidate has a sense of initiative, can work independently and take responsibility.
  • The candidate can deal with patients with a psychiatric disorder.
  • Good knowledge of statistics (SPSS, R.).
  • Affinity with programming is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of Dutch (dealing with patients) and English.

The project will start on 1 October 2019 and will run in 4 years. The selected candidate will take a temporary position for 1 year, after which the prospect of obtaining the PhD is evaluated and, if favorable, the position is extended by 3 years. Salary is in accordance with Belgian law.
