The Animal Genetics and Breeding Group (Prof. Dr. Jörn Bennewitz), Institute of Animal Science, University of Hohenheim, offers a PhD-position. The position is part of the DFG-funded project QTCC: From Quantitative Trait Correlation to Causation in dairy cattle, which will be conducted within a consortium from the German Universities in Kiel, Göttingen and Hohenheim.
We are seeking for a highly motivated PhD candidate, who will analyze large cattle genomic data sets with the aim to dissect correlation and causal effects between milk traits, fertility, health, and efficiency traits. The candidate will strongly interact with people from the other consortium partners.
We offer: A PhD position for the duration of 3 years at the University Hohenheim, work with innovative genomic methods on large cattle data sets in a stimulating, friendly and international atmosphere, an excellent supervision by a multidisciplinary team, and a tailored education program. Preferred starting date is end of 2020.
Your Profile: M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Agricultural Sciences or Biostatistics or related disciplines, strong interest and proven skills in biostatistical methods and the willingness to work with highly-dimensional data sets (big data), as well as strong communication skills.
