Department Description

The Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth is a new and rapidly developing research center at the Department of Banking and Finance. The center conducts multidisciplinary research into the fundamental issues of sustainable finance. The center is overseen by Prof. Marc Chesney and directed by Dr. Falko Paetzold.


- Pass the mandatory courses of the PhD program
- Conduct research projects that lie within the strategic scope of the CSP, with a focus on behavioral foundations
- Some teaching support

Requirements / Qualifications

- Requirements for successful enrolment in the doctoral program in finance:
- Background in behavioral sciences, economics, or finance, preferably with a knowledge of microeconomics, behavioral economics, and behavioral finance with a keen interest in applying behavioral insights to financial decision making.
- Interest in doing research in any of the sub-disciplines of finance that has the potential to solve big problems in the realm of sustainable development (e.g. climate change, poverty, etc.).
- Experience in sustainable development topics is a plus but not required.
