Area of responsibilities:

Scientific research services in the DFG funded project aiming to understand processes involved in autophagosomal and lysosomal maturation in axons with specific focus on the cytoskeleton. Rat primary neurons and human iPSC-derived neurons will be used as model systems to perform a broad range of biochemical, molecular biology and imaging experiments. The appointment must lead to the completion of a PhD thesis.

Requirements:

Completed master degree in Molecular Life Sciences or Biology (submitted thesis is a minimum); expertise in advanced fluorescence imaging techniques (for example, completed advanced course on microscopy); practical skills in biochemistry and molecular biology techniques (molecular cloning, expression and purification of recombinant proteins; theoretical and practical experience in working on the cytoskeleton field (for example cell-free actin and microtubule reconstitution assays, imaging of the cytoskeleton in cells); experience working with mammalian cell cultures, especially with primary neurons; practical skills in isolation of intracellular vesicles; theoretical knowledge and practical experience with application of high-resolution imaging techniques (confocal microscopy, TIRF, STED); experience with live cell imaging (especially applied to the cytoskeleton and trafficking of proteins and organelles).
