The McCombs School of Business and the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin jointly seek two open-rank, tenure-track faculty candidates as part of the “AI Business of Health” cluster hiring initiative. While appointments will primarily be based in one of the two schools, collaborative opportunities across the UT community are expected, engaging both existing faculty and new faculty recruited through the University’s broader AI and healthcare initiatives.
The cluster initiative aims to strengthen leadership in research, development, implementation, and evaluation of health-oriented artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
Candidates with doctoral training in one or more of the following areas are preferred:
Information systems
Machine learning and AI
(Bio)statistics
Economics
Operations research
Decision sciences
Preferred candidates will have interest in cross-disciplinary research in clinical, healthcare delivery, business of healthcare, and/or public health settings. For senior candidates with a primary appointment in Dell Medical School, a strong record of extramural funding is highly desirable.

Dell Medical School:

The UT Medical Center, anchored by Dell Medical School, is developing state-of-the-art facilities, including a UT specialty hospital and a cancer center by MD Anderson, alongside robust academic and research expertise.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent required before the start date; ABD candidates may be considered at the application/interview stage.
Candidates with clinical degrees and a relevant research track record are also eligible.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to foster a collaborative, engaging, and dynamic academic environment.
Demonstrated potential for high-quality scholarly research and excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds.

Research Statement: Include prior, current, and future research plans, and describe mentoring of PhD/medical students, residents, post-docs/fellows, and collaborative research environment development.
Teaching Statement: Describe teaching philosophy, teaching and assessment methods, and strategies for student engagement.
References: List of three references with emails. Interfolio will contact references directly for recommendation letters.
