The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Clinical Faculty Dermatologist or Clinical Immunologist to be based at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.
Since its inception in 1987, the mission of the Division of Dermatology has been to advance dermatology through research and education. We provide consultative clinical services to the entire Northern Alberta and parts of British Columbia. Of the total of over 16,000 dermatological consultations annually, a significant proportion comprises of highly specialized care, focusing on cutaneous oncology and complex inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases. The educational program in dermatology spans all levels of medical education from medical students to dermatology residency. We have an active, collaborative research environment, with an excellent publication record in cutaneous oncology, inflammatory diseases, skin immunology, and quality improvement. The division works closely with a group of community-based dermatologists affiliated with the University of Alberta, and has established interdisciplinary collaborations with specialists in rheumatology, oncology, clinical immunology and allergology.
The Division of Dermatology is expanding into clinical immunology and allergy relevant to skin diseases. We are seeking a new clinical faculty member to develop this area of clinical activity. The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and be certified in Dermatology, Internal Medicine, and/or Clinical Immunology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Additionally, the candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
Applicants with formal training in Clinical Immunology and Allergy, whether through a residency program or a fellowship, will be given priority. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing clinical services, including the evaluation and management of patients in both ambulatory and hospital settings. The role also involves contributing to the medical education of learners at all levels and advancing the field of clinical dermato-immunology and allergy.
The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
