The Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, invites applications for several Associate or Full Professor positions.
Appointments may be made in either:
the non-tenure clinician educator track, or
the tenure track,
depending on the candidate’s qualifications and career focus. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
Applicants must:
Hold an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D.
Be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
Teaching responsibilities may include participation in the Perelman School of Medicine’s educational programs at the:
Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) level
Graduate Medical Education (GME) level
Post-graduate level
Clinical responsibilities may include direct patient care in:
Inpatient settings
Outpatient settings
Candidates holding a medical degree will be expected to maintain an active clinical practice.
Research and scholarly responsibilities may include:
Developing and leading a research program of high relevance to general internal medicine
Mentoring trainees and junior faculty
Contributing to the academic and leadership mission of the division
Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to:
Health services and health policy research
Comparative effectiveness research
Health economics and behavioral economics
Implementation science
Health psychology
Biomedical and health informatics
Clinical or social epidemiology
Medical sociology
Disease prevention
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
A strong record of extramural funding
High-impact publications
A national reputation (Associate Professor) or international reputation (Full Professor)
Commitment to mentorship and leadership within academic medicine
Associate Professor: National reputation in research and/or scholarship
Full Professor: International reputation and sustained leadership in the field
Appointment track (tenure vs. clinician educator) will be determined based on qualifications and career trajectory.
