This position is available within the SNF project "Development of a Toolbox for Psychological Test Development" (PI: Dr. Rudolf Debelak) that is associated with the workgroup for Psychological Methods, Evaluation and Statistics at the University of Zurich. This workgroup is active and internationally connected in the fields of statistics and psychometrics. The research focus of the SNF project is the development of new statistical methods for the development and evaluation of psychological and educational tests and questionnaires.

Your responsibilities

The duties of the job holder include:

  • the development, validation, and application of new psychometric methods,

  • their implementation in the open-source software R, and

  • the presentation of research results in journal articles and at international conferences with a methodological focus, but also the communication of the results to and the cooperation with applied research groups.

The position is limited to three years. International applicants are expected to acquire a good working knowledge of the German language within one year. Language courses will be supported.

Your profile

Successful applicants have a master's degree in psychology with a strong emphasis on methodology or a master's degree in statistics or a related discipline with a strong interest in psychological research questions, a strong interest in or previous experience with Item Response Theory, good programming skills in R, as well as very good English language skills.
